Born from
granite country.
Built on a handshake.
Bellavance Trucking started the way a lot of good things do — with a family that wanted something better, a local opportunity, and enough grit to make it work.
A family that
bet on themselves.
For years, granite had left Barre the same way it always had — by rail. In 1950, Joe and Arthur Bellavance leased a truck and became some of the first drivers delivering granite door to door, directly from the manufacturers here in Barre to the customer.
Eventually they earned their own operating authority in Pennsylvania, and in 1957 established Bellavance Trucking. All eight brothers came to work at the company over the years — Bert, Paul, and Laurent returned from the military and got behind the wheel. Leon and Frank drove as well. Alphonse kept the trucks running in the shop. Even two of their sisters found their place here: Alice in the office, and Gertrude moving granite locally.
They traded seven-day weeks on the farm for six days doing work they owned. And they built something that outlasted all of them.
Three Generations.
One Standard.
Three generations of the Bellavance family, one founding principle: the Bellavance Way.
Joe and his brother Arthur leased their first truck in 1950, hauling granite out of Barre when everyone else was still using rail. By 1957 they had their own authority and their own name on the door.
Roland had been working at the company since he was ten years old. In 1977 he joined full time, carrying the family’s values into a new era — and overseeing the biggest expansion in company history.
Like his father before him, Ryan had been working at the company since 6th grade. He joined full time after college and leads Bellavance today — same roots, same standard, same name on the trucks.
The Bellavance Way.
We operate with integrity. We treat our Bellavance family and our customers with trust, respect, and care. We are dependable and authentic — we are who we say we are.
We work hard, work together, and do whatever is required to get the job done safely every time.
We don’t use Band-Aids for today. We use technology, planning, and our combined strengths to better our processes and improve for tomorrow.
We take pride in and ownership of our roles. Each of our efforts directly affects the success of this company — and we’re inspired by that.
How We Got Here.
The company takes shape under the Bellavance name, rooted in Barre, Vermont and built on the reputation Joe and Arthur had already been earning on the road.
Roland Bellavance — who had been working at the company since he was ten — joins full time, carrying the family’s values into a new era of growth.
A local acquisition takes Bellavance from 12 trucks to 25 overnight — the biggest single expansion in company history. A new dry van division opens the door to furniture, paper, and general freight.
Ryan Bellavance joins full time after college, bringing fresh energy to a company with deep roots. He had been working here since 6th grade.
The acquisition of Terry Hill gets Bellavance into the refrigerated trailer business, rounding out a full-service operation that can handle nearly any freight need.
Bellavance now operates across all 48 contiguous states and Canada. The company looks a lot different than it did in the 50s — same principles, still hauling granite out of Barre every week.
What We’re
Here to Do.
We’re not the biggest trucking company in the country. We don’t want to be. What we want is to be the best company you’ve ever worked for or worked with — the one you tell other people about because we actually did what we said we’d do.
That’s what Joe and Arthur started. That’s what Roland carried forward. That’s what Ryan is building on today.
Who You’re Working With.
When you hand us a load, these are the people who handle it. You’ll know their names before long.
Scott manages your load from the moment it’s assigned to the moment it’s delivered.
Beckey is your direct line — for updates, questions, or anything you need.
Addison makes sure the right truck is in the right place before your load ever needs to move.
Dalton runs both of our warehouses — moving stone, leading the crew, and making sure every promise we make to you gets kept, one load at a time.
Alexa is your direct line for flatbed loads — for updates, questions, or anything you need.
We’re always looking for drivers who take pride in their work. See what Bellavance offers — and what we expect.
